BOTULINUM TOXIN (BOTOX®)

Botulinum toxin reduces excessive muscle contractions responsible for the appearance of wrinkles on the forehead and around the eyes.

It works only on those muscles into which it was injected while other muscles function as usual. The facial expression does not change while the wrinkles disappear.

Botox® is used to eliminate various problems both in women and in men at any age, such as:

• deep wrinkles on the forehead,
• "lion’s wrinkle",
• "crow’s feet" around the eyes,
• "smoker’s lines"
• lifting the drooping eyelids,
• lifting the mouth corners,
• removal of chin wrinkles ("witch chin"),
• nasal tip elevation in the case of the hooked nose,
• smoothing of the furrows of the neck and neckline,
• "Lowering the smile" in patients who show their gums when smiling ("gym smile"),
• treatment of hyperhidrosis of armpits, hands, feet, forehead,
• bruxism (reduction of jaw muscle tension).

Botox application takes about 15-20 minutes. Botox starts to work after 2-3 days after the treatment, and the full effect is visible after about 14 days from the date of the treatment. The effect lasts for about 4-6 months. After the treatment a small bruise may appear in the place of the injection. However, there is no contraindication for the patient’s return to daily activities.
